Vision & Mission
Our Vision
A resilient and disaster-ready coastal Bangladesh where communities, particularly vulnerable and marginalized groups, are meaningfully engaged in disaster risk reduction and humanitarian planning and have a stronger voice in decisions that affect their lives.
Our Mission
The Sundarbans Coalition works collectively to strengthen locally led disaster risk reduction and resilience in coastal Bangladesh by bringing together local and national organizations, strengthening coordination, and supporting community-led and inclusive action.
We seek to develop and implement coordinated Joint Action Plans that respond to community priorities, strengthen disaster preparedness and resilience, and improve the reach and effectiveness of services for vulnerable communities.
Our Approach
Locally Led Action
We recognize the knowledge, leadership and experience of local organizations and communities and seek to strengthen their meaningful participation in planning, decision-making and implementation.
Inclusive Participation
We promote meaningful participation and voice for communities, particularly people and groups who are marginalized, socially excluded or harder to reach.
Collaboration and Coordination
We bring organizations together to share knowledge, coordinate actions and develop collective approaches to disaster risk reduction and resilience.
Democratic Governance
We promote inclusive decision-making, transparency, mutual accountability and shared ownership across the Coalition.
Learning and Sustainability
We seek to strengthen the Coalition’s capacity, governance and systems so that locally led collaboration can become stronger, more sustainable and increasingly independent over time.
